Lethargy...

Hey all...

So this morning, I woke up feeling like a train hit me, literally. I slept well, at least 8 hours (which is rare for me - I usually log in about 7 hours a night), but when I opened my eyes, I felt as if sand bags were tied to all of my limbs. I drank a little coffee hoping that I was just feeling a little sluggish, but it didn't help at all. Even worse, I attempted to go running, and only lasted a half hour, which also drove me nuts... Anyway, enough about that - here's the eats of the day...

In the mix: Frozen bananas, peanut butter 2, cinnamon, agave nectar, amazing grass chocolate infusion, light vanilla soymilk, spinach, and crushed ice... I ended up eating like a thick soup topped off with walnuts and Kashi honey sunshine cereal. It doesn't look too appetizing, but mmm it was delicious.

Mid Afternoon snack - half of Ezekiel cinnamon raisin toast topped with laughing cow cheese, fugi apple, and cinnamon

Lunch - An "everything" salad... I honestly think there's about 15 different vegetables. I also had some salmon again, but I didn't snap a pic.

Dinner - Panko breaded chicken breast stuffed with spinach, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, and pine nuts with a side of whole wheat pasta and asparagus. I probably ate about a third of this. I found the recipe on a random website, but it turned out really yummy :)

And Dessert - I seriously think I ate about 4 bowls of fruit salad today. I was craving it like nobody's business. So here's a little snap shot of it X's 4 haha.

Anyhow, I'm off to go relax a little before bed... I'm watching my aunt's baby again tomorrow morning, so I'm planning on a good workout in the AM beforehand. Hope you have a great night!

Feed, Burp, and Sleep...

Well, that's what my little cousin Carter (3 months old) does...

I had a busssssy day today. I started off with a nice 40 minute spin session followed by some ab work. Since I am finished with my internship, I offered to help my aunt out with babysitting her new born since she had to go back to work. I have a HUGE family - my mom is Korean, my dad is Serbian - but my mom's side of the family all lives on my street, literally. I have about 18 cousins, and 12 of them live within walking distance of my house. Needless to say, I spent my day feeding, burping, and changing diapers, but I loved it ;) Anyway, let's get on with today's eats, shall we?

Breakfast was a big purple monster with the following add-ins:

-Spinach, frozen berries and bananas, scoop of amazing grass chocolate infusion, light vanilla Silk, cinnamon, agave nectar, crushed ice, and brown rice protein powder... in the end, it looked something like this...

Supplemented with half a piece of cinnamon raisin Ezekiel toast with almond butter, slivered almonds, and mejool dates... (I ate the other half in the early am as a pre-work out snack). I'm pretty sure I ate my breakfast in 3 minutes max since I was running late to baby-sit. Let's just say, don't attempt that at home - big purple monsters do not sit well when sucked down too quickly...

My Aunt's house isn't exactly known to carry too many "whole foods", so I packed my lunch and a few snacks for the afternoon. Lunch included leftover grilled salmon and "everything salad" with natural blue cheese dressing, and half of a grilled sweet potato. I looove sweet potatoes... have you ever tried them with almond butter?? DELICIOUS. I also had a non-pictured Lara Bar for a snack.

And unfortunately, I did not document dinner. I know, I know, I need to get into the blogging habit haha... but after all of that baby-watchin', I was so hungry, I scarfed down my dinner way too fast. But just for fun, I had a TJ's whole wheat pita with a grilled eggplant and zucchini omelet, fresh salsa, and a side of honeydew...

Well, I did a little better today, didn't I? Maybe tomorrow I'll get all three meals plus snacks documented ;) Hope you have a great night!

Slacker...

Hey all! So yeah, I've obviously been slacking in the blogging and foodie picture updates, and I've just started blogging haha. However, beginning tomorrow, I'm going to be more diligent -things have been crazy around here. I just finished my final internship on Friday, so I have a little more time on my hands before my senior year starts up.

Anyway, just some food for thought... I have an insatiable sweet tooth - we're talkin' hugeeeeee sweet tooth. My favorite splurge is always some type of ice cream... and since I've begun my "whole food" adventure, I started whipping up thick fruit smoothies topped with walnuts and cocoa nibs for dessert. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I find that the more I shy away from processed white sugar, the less I crave it; however, sometimes it's deffffinitely difficult (I'm sure you all know what I mean). Anyway, if you have a sweet tooth, how do you curb the craving?

Another Day InThe Cube...

Good morning everyone! I hope your day is going well. I'm actually blogging from my cubicle at work. I'm finishing up my 3rd and last summer internship at a financial corporation. I can't believe I'll have to actually find a full-time job after graduation (I'll be finishing up my senior year of college this year) Good thing I have NO idea what I want to do with my life... but that's another whole can of worms. Anyway, I'll be posting all of my "eats" of the day later on in the evening when I have access to my own computer. Just wanted to shout a quick hello and see how everyone was doing...
As promised, here are the eats of the day...
For breakfast, I've been blending up giant green monsters... Unfortunately, I was running late to catch the bus this morning and didn't have a chance to take a picture before I sloshed it into my thermos, but it had frozen blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, light vanilla soy milk, brown rice protein powder, a scoop of amazing grass chocolate infusion, cinnamon, a little agave nectar, and ice... Of course, I supplemented with a Pecan Pie Larabar...

Lunch was a organic peppered turkey sandwich on a trader joe's whole wheat pita... the in mix: asparagus, romaine lettuce, honey mustard, and a hunk of tomato. As you can see, my little pita didn't quite hold up against the fillings (I tend to overstuff my sammies). Carrots and a fresh nectarine on the side... unfortunately, I ate some of both before I realized that I didnt snap a pic.

And finally... dinahhh.... This is an example of what I call my "everything salad" (You'll be seeing a lot of these on this blog). I basically go home, raid my kitchen, and shove everything possibly imaginable into a bowl and nosh. This one has romaine, yellow zuchinni, blueberries, cherries, asparagus, roasted red peppers, beets, bell peppers, slivered almonds, and some more organic turkey because I didn't feel like cooking tonight (even though I love it)... blame it on the day job ;)

Throughout the day, I also snacked on some raw nuts (almonds, peanuts, walnuts), and a couple ginger chews (love these... way too addicting), but for the most part, what is pictured is what was sucked down. I'm one of those type A personalities who wakes up at 5:00 am before work to get a good sweat session in, but unfortunately, I slept in today :( I literally can't wait to get a workout in tomorrow - is anyone else like that? Anyway, hope everyone had a great day - I'll see you in the am!

My First Post!

Hi there! My name is Tracy, and I am completely new to the whole "blog world". By accident, I stumbled upon my first food/fitness blog (Carrots n' Cake) while googling heathy recipes. One blogroll lead to another, and I found myself frequently browsing numerous different health/food blogs. What I love most about my little "blog world" discovery is that I can identify with so many people, and it feels wonderful to see so many others out there with the same passion for health, nutrition, and fitness.

I underwent my own weightloss journey towards the end of high school, and I am finally where I want to be. However, recently, I have completely switched my food philosphy from "diet foods" so to speak - splenda, low calorie, etc. - and calorie counting, to eating whole, unprocessed, and natural foods and listening to my body's hunger cues. It's definitely been an entirely different experince with many struggles, but I have to say, I'm highly enjoying it.

I am an avid runner, and I love spinning, being active, playing sports, cooking, and all of that good stuff. Like everyone else, I face challenges every day with making healthy choices, switching up my routines, and battling my inner dessert-loving demons :) I plan on using this blog to not only share my own thoughts, ideas, and pictures, but to learn as much as I can from all of you. Alright, now before this gets ridiculously long and boring, I'm going to end my first post...
